Help Configuration
Did you know that Oracle offers a feature to enhance user assistance on its pages? By default, help icons that open help windows are visible to users. You have the ability to manage the visibility of these icons, determining whether they appear every time users sign in across any page that includes them. You can easily enable or disable help icons for all users by adjusting the default settings.
Enable Help Feature:
Navigate to My Enterprise >> Offering and then select Workforce Development and click on Opt In Features:
Click on the edit icon under feature:
Enable the required features at the offering level:
- Local Installation of Help: keep this setting enabled..
- Access to Internet-Based Help Features: This feature is not utilized, so whether you enable it or not has no impact.
- Help Content Management: Enable this feature if you want select individuals to add company-specific help to help windows or the Getting Started work area.
- Security for Added Help: Activate this feature if you want specific help content to be accessible only to a limited set of user roles.
Note: Enable this feature only, if necessary, as it may impact performance.
Hide or Show Help Icons:
By default, help icons that open help windows are visible to users. You can control whether these icons are displayed each time users sign in on any page with help icons. The visibility of help icons can be toggled for all users.
To make this adjustment, go to the Setup and Maintenance work area >> Application Extensions functional area >> Set Help Options task:
On the Set Help Options page, simply check or uncheck the “Show help icons by default” checkbox. This setting only needs to be changed for one offering, and it will apply to all users.
To see the changes take effect, users must sign out and then sign back in. This will also apply to other users during their next sign-in.
Even then if you are unable to see the icons – enable the Help column from View Columns:
For individual sessions, users can click their user image or name in the global header to choose either Show Help Icons or Hide Help Icons.
Here’s how the help details are displayed when you click on the help icon:
